Queer Fungi Workshops and Forays
fungi are queer? How can we unlearn and relearn with them?
My bread and butter, it is always a joy to hold space for people to learn and unlearn and question about what we're taught about ourselves and the world around us and to create!
SWorkshops are my bread and butter! It’s always a joy to hold space for people to learn, unlearn, and question about what we're taught about ourselves and the world around us. My workshops are based on play, creation, and exploration.
Since 2022 I’ve had the pleasure of running many fungi workshops and walks - spotlighting fungi, folklore and history, Fungal ID ecology, and biology, interdependence and queer theory! My workshops and walks all bring together these fascinating topics, allowing us to collectively explore these topics accessibly.
Usually, my workshops combine a lecture followed by creative play. I start with an interactive presentation with group discussions (and a fair few puns), followed by a session where we make and create using collaging, zine making, embroidery, clay, spore printing, creative writing or blackout poetry.
For a foray people, come out with me on a walk to find and ID some fungi. We will usually talk through ideas an topics across fungal biology and ecology, queer theory, folklore and more. Each foray is different as we always find different fungi. Forays are often walking and talking, but I can include chances for people to test their new skills in small groups, or add a creative session on.
My workshops often sell out in 24 hours and have long wait lists.
